Blog 11 - Yes Men
The Yes Man are a pair of performing artists who seek to make social commentary about corporations. The Yes Men infiltrate corporations disguised as one of the big CEO's in order to publicly humiliate and show that what the corporations are really doing. The Yes Men feel that a false sense of reality has been created by many corporations in order to cover up their less than desirable profit making ideas. By exploiting the corporations for what they really are, the Yes Men are able to shine a light on these corporations and provide a real version of what is going on. This leads to the idea of the Marxist idea of false consciousness. We as a public are falsely conscious of what is really going on because of the illusions that are created by corporations. The idea that capitalism creates a false consciousness between appearances and reality is thoroughly seen in these corporations business tactics. With many shady dealings, the Yes Men strive to exploit and show that capitalism and corporations have created such illusions without us knowing.
